I 'm homeschooling 10 of my children this year. I'm a mix between Charlotte Mason and WTM Classical. I've hs'ed 10 years and I think I'm just getting my groove.

We have not been able to see books before we purchased them. But I was not disappointed in the SCM books. Was with some of rod and staff books. And ACE is one I simply refuse to use. Although it is super easy for the parents Journeying With Joy

I ended up getting Alpha Omega Math and Language Arts, as well as Math-U-See. I bought the Alpha Omega curriculum second hand as a set from someone I know who changed her mind about homeschooling, which is why we got the math too. In the end I'm glad we did get the math as well, because my son needed a more gradual approach than was provided by Math-U-See. Right now we're doing some of both. Anyhow, I really like AlphaOmega, and it's working. Although he's going through the curriculum very quickly. (Not a bad problem.) He's halfway through already and we started school right after Labour Day. I'm already noticing some differences, mostly because he's always being instructed to c-o-l-o-r things instead of c-o-l-o-u-r things, and "zee" instead of "zed". (It took me a month of looking before I found an alphabet song on YouTube that pronounced it the Canadian way! lol) I love the curriculum, though. It's very basic and to the point and just what I wanted. It gives me flexibility to add in lots of supplemental activities and games without being stressed about falling behind. Anyway, so far so good! I like being the teacher AND the mommy sooooo much more than being Mommy only! To be honest, ladies, this is the first thing I've done as a parent that feels like it's getting any kind of lasting results. Most of life has been a blur of cleaning things that just get dirty again and it's incredibly gratifying to see my child learning to read, write and do math! So glad the Lord called us to do this.

Hi Jen,
So glad to hear you've found some curriculum options that are working out well for your family.
We've been homeschooling for 10 years now and have used quite a variety of curriculum. We used Alpha Omega for our 3rd when he was in Jr. high - he did very well with it.
Yes, home schooling is very rewarding ... as you mentioned the parents get to see steady progress in their children both in academics and character.
Blessings, tb

I checked into it when my biological children were small but not much was out there. Now raising my DH's granddaughters but it didn't work out so put them back into public schools. D1 is now a senior w/special needs that are beyond my ability to handle & D2 is doing well in school & very active in Honor Choir & State Choir so for now that's it. Hats off to you who do home school !

I think in some ways it's as much work to put them in public school. I find it so much easier to just teach my oldest at home than to bundle up all four kids, take one of them to school, do the same at the end of the day, pack a school lunch, (especially with all the crazy rules and regulations some schools have about lunches) do homework and keep up with this and that school event... Seriously, I don't know if I could do it! In many ways, the Lord's leading in each our lives is as unique as we are.
