;D
I posted on homeschooling already then thought I'd best head back up here and at least say hello to everyone.
My name is Deanna, wife and helpmeet to Dewey and momma to our 8-soon-to-be-9 blessings
We relocated, following the Lord's leading, last year from our life-long home in northern Illinois among family and came here to northern Mississippi to start roots again. We are buying an almost-20 acre homestead here and settling in for however long the Lord keeps us here. We are anxiously awaiting His Plan to reveal itself more every day.
We homeschool 4 this year...having one graduated already and off in the work-force, looking into a courtship with a young lady back North...then 3 youngers merely on the coloring and listening end of the homeschool teaching. We use Christian Light for our main schooling, plus the Bible.
Dewey came here from 18+ years as an electrician, now working in a factory setting as a machine operator. Family thinks us totally insane...our pay scale has dropped by 2/3 since moving (yet the bills still remain...)but our life is so much richer since coming here. It was a step out in Faith for us, but what a blessing the Lord bestows on those who are faithful and follow His Still Small voice when prompted. We certainly don't regret a day of our decision to move.
For my own part in the homestead, I have been very slowly working toward a small cottage business sewing modest clothing and headcovering for others. Of course, the Lord's timing is far better than my own, and though starting it this past year, awaiting baby has shown me that I need to slow down and step back for this season. I look forward to growing the business again if the Lord is still behind it.
I suppose that is us in the nutshell here. We are continually growing in the Lord and looking to grow this new homestead for His Glory. We garden, preserve, work toward living off the abundance He has provided here for us. It's a slow process to start, but I know there are many blessings down the road for our homestead as we follow Him.
I really look forward to the fellowship of like-minded friends here!
Deanna
