So last saturday the kids and I planted some sunflower seeds in some terra cotta pots we had painted as a school project. What an amazing lesson!! My 7 year old checks them every morning, and somehow we got each seed growing at a different rate. Some are just starting to sprout and some are already a few inches tall! I can't wait until its nice enough to plant them outside and see there little faces when they realize those tiny seeds are growing into 12 foot tall flowers!!

Sounds like so much fun!
In our home school, we complete a form for projects and field trips. We also take photos of the students doing the projects and while on the field trips, usually a beginning, middle and end. (My #4 is currently working on a little garden plot for one of her literature projects, so the photos will be taken over a 3-4 month period.) I use the digital camera and print the photos out on card stock. We then glue them to the back of the project/field trip form.
Our project forms are pretty simple. They include the date, name of the project, "What did you learn?", What did you like most about this project?", Would you like to do this project again?", "Why?". The field trip forms are also simple as they include the date, place and "What did you learn about today?", and "What did you like the most?"
Does anyone else do something like this?

I planted a bed of Mammoth sunflowers this year to see how they would do. I want the big heads for bird feed this winter. I'm afraid they will snap at the stalk with the high winds we have here. Has anyone had success/failure with these type?
