Yep, I went to church. Its the first time I've been to church in 20 years. It was........different. I don't know if its because as a kid we went to a non-denominational church, and this was a methodist church.....How do I know if I'm methodist? They did some really neat things like prayer requests, and praise reports, but the pastor only spoke about the scripture for maybe 15 minutes.....the rest was other things....and there was communion....I'm not sure what that is...I remember it from a kid, but I don't know what it means. I think I'm going to go a few more times and maybe it will be a little easier as I go. Then if it doesn't work I'll try another church. But I feel SO much better just going! And I do believe God is trying to get his point across in his message to me: Just because you are saved and go to church doesn't mean your going to heaven! That was the message in the video someone posted on here, that was also the message of today at church! I NEED TO DO MY BEST TO LIVE MY LIFE AS A CHRISTIAN EVERY DAY!!! Ok, I'm done rambling, I just wanted to share my church going experience of the day!

HOORAY!! I am so glad you are looking for a Christian body to fellowship with.
You mentioned that you don't fully understand communion. Well, communion is taken as a sacrament unto the Lord. We take communion out of remembrance for God sacrificing his only begotten son for us. We remember Christ's willingly choosing to do the will of the Father and sacrificing himself in our place. (we must always remember the wages of sin is death - Jesus took our place, He took our sentence) The "bread" (usually in the form of a bland tasting wafer) represents Christ's body which was beaten and broken for our physical healing. Thus we break the bread before consuming. The "wine" (usually grape juice) represents Christ's blood that was shed for the remittance of our sins.
At the "Last Supper" (called that because it was Jesus' last meal with the 12 disciples), Jesus broke and passed bread telling the disciples, "take eat, this is my body". He also passed a cup of wine & told them, "this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins". Likewise, we partake in the "last supper" every time we remember the Lord through communion.
It is important to take communion with a clear conscience, having sought forgiveness for any sin one may have in his/her life prior to partaking. Communion is not a sacrament to be taken lightly - it is a very serious and reverent time of fellowship with the Lord.
If you are interested you can read about Jesus celebrating the Passover with His disciples and the Last Supper in Matthew 26:17-30. (note: Matthew chapters 26-28 describes in full the plot to kill Jesus, His crucification and His glorious resurrection).
Again, it is wonderful to hear that you are seeking fellowship with other believers. I will pray that the Lord leads you to a church "home" soon.
