What can you grow in containers as far as consumables are concerned. Last year was my first experience with plants and I had some heatwave hybrid of tomato that only produced 1 good tomato, and some basil that grew beautifully. I love to use dill but I don't know if it would do well in the Texas heat. Any suggestions or links to places with information like this?

I found a great book at the library for container gardening. It's called Incredible Vegetables from Self-Watering Containers by Edward C Smith. You can get lot's of ideas and it looks like you can grow amost anything in a container including corn and pumpkins!

My DH uses 5 gallon plastic buckets that his fellow workers save for anyone who needs them..they're actually paint buckets...DH drills holes in the bottom for drainage. They really work well for us...we're in NE Oklahoma.
