This recipe has no aluminum and works just like the stick deodorants. Do not add any perfume that has alcohol in it, I did this and ended up with a rash, I'm sure oils would be fine for scenting. You can mold it in an old deodorant container.
1/4 cup baking soda 1/4 cup corn starch 5 Tbs coconut oil

That's a great idea.
Do I just mix it all together or do I need to do anything special? What would you use if you don't have an old solid style deodorant can? Coconut oil?? Where would I find that, the regular cooking oil section at the grocery store or elsewhere?

Thanks for this recipe! I'm going to give it try.

P.S. Keeperofthehome, If you don't have an old deodorant container, I am sure a Tupperware/plastic food container would work. I'd just use my finger tips to apply it under my arms. Also, one should be able to find coconut oil in the cooking oil section of the local grocer.

we have been using jut plain baking soda on our underarms and it seems to work great. even my hard working-heavy sweating husband says it works better than store bought deodorant and anti-perspirant.

I've been making/using a homemade deodorant cream for over a year now. It works wonderfully! I found when you mix lavender and orange essential oils together, it smells like sugar cookies, as well. Here's what I am using right now. Cream Deodorant 2 Tbsp. wax jelly (recipe to follow) 15 drops Essential Oil 2 t cornstarch 1 t baking soda Mix, put in a pot and apply with fingertips. I personally, have been using 5 drops tea tree oil (it kills bateria, which causes the odor!), 5 drops orange essential oil, and 10 drops lavendar oil to this, and it smells like sugar cookies! Natural Wax Jelly (Makes 8 four ounce Jars) 28 Ounces Coconut Oil 4 Ounces White Beeswax or 2 Ounces of Candelilla Wax (for Vegans) Heat ingredients in double boiler on low until melted. Quickly pour into containers. The base will cool according to your room temperature. Use as you would petroleum jelly. (This is all natural, a great alternative to petroleum jelly!)
