I received a new HE washer a little over a month ago, it's great. It is front loading and doesn't have that thing in the middle that turns around so it's a lot easier on your clothes, plus you can wash stuff you couldn't with the regular washers. I washed my daughter's giant stuffed animal that my regular machine would tear up and it came out great in my new HE. It uses very little detergent, of course, you need HE detergent, but I'm spending about as much as I would buying the cheap powder (Foca). You only need to use up to the number 1 on the detergent measuring cup for a regular load, up to the 2 for a really large load. My water bill was cut by 30%! It's usually about $50 and this time its $35.
At first I was worried it couldn't handle the cloth diapers I use on my youngest. It does a great job, I wash them like I did in the other machine.

So glad you like it. We have been looking at them, but right now our machine works, so why buy if we don't need, right!?!

If you want to save a LOT of money on detergent (26 cents for 32 loads, using Ivory soap), the natural, homemade detergent you can find recipes for anywhere on the internet is fantastic for HE machines, because it doesn't suds up. I've heard HE owners rave about the results with the homemade laundry soap.
Whenever we have our own place, I hope we will be able to get an HE machine because of all the money it saves in the end. Congrats on the machine!
