I know it's a little late to get our tomato seeds started (for our area of the gardening world that is) but as of yesterday we have them started in the seed containers. Hubby has been working to get the garden area tilled back up and weed free again. I admit it got neglected since late Fall and the winter so far. But as of tonight he has 90% of it tilled up again. Now it's just a matter of getting the big weeds out of it and then we can prepare our rows.
We started our compost bin last week so that is moving ahead nicely. We have a bit to go on it before we can use it but that's ok....we have it started.
Has anyone else gotten the gardening bug yet?

How is your garden doing now? Anything in the ground? I've recently moved back out of Texas and finally got my garden tilled up. I'm itching terribly to get something into the ground that I know will actually grow! Beans, tomatoes, beets, squash, okra, peppers, cukes, melon, herbs, you name it. Next week is all about the garden!

Getting close to time to plant. My seeds have been doing well inside though. We are going to plant a variety of bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, squash, pumpkins, watermelons, peas, green beans, cucumbers and corn. I love our garden.

I am still new to where we live and not sure when to put anything in. It is so weird living this far north. Also have such a small area. I would love to try some container gardening.

I'm a container gardener. We got some tomato plants today and I want to try other things. I want to try grow potatoes in a barrel. I saw a website about that but it is too late to try that here in my area.

I ordered the Homestead Blessings set of DVD's and one of them is on gardening. They have a segment on container gardening and so I hope to find time today to watch it.

I had an opportunity to see a couple of the Homestead Blessing videos on the Angel 2 network.
I really enjoyed the knowledge the West ladies passed on in these programs.

There is a site called Lehman's.com that has alot of "old fashioned" things for gardening. I've enjoyed the site & it also features Amish things for sale. I like the "alternative" options they have for many things. Check it out!
Our graden is growing well & should have red tomatoes by July 4th..usual time in our area & the green beans are amost large enough to pick...have been enjoying green onions & raddishes for a while now...can't wait to get enough beans to can...yummy!

We had such a crazy winter that we actually had a freeze several times way late in the season so as we got the ground tilled then it froze. Or rained so much it was flooding things...so we were not able to do the garden after all. Our tomato seedlings were doing ok but being int he garage with a grow light could only help so much. They ended up dying while we waited for sensible weather to plant them in. So I have a few containers with herbs, tomatoes, bell pepper and jalapenos. I miss not have the garden but somethign is better than nothing.

For the past 8 years I've planted spring and fall gardens, however, this year I skipped the spring garden because of health issues and our plans to "hopefully" move.
I never dreamed I'd miss gardening as much as I have. I am looking forward to and praying for a nice garden next spring.
