I have recently gotten several seed catalogs in the mail and spent this aftrnoon mapping out my garden for this spring. I have had several loads of manure dumped on it and am anxious to see how it produces. Got to love good neighbors who give you a bunch of c----!

Hi Ladies,
As mentioned earlier, spring comes early down here in S.E. Texas and my vegetable and herb gardens are in.
This year I put beets, tomatoes, bell peppers, carrots, green beans, cucumbers, mixed lettuces, English peas, spinach, cantaloupe, yellow squash, zucchini, and green onions in my vegetable garden. In my herb patches I planted, oregano, garlic chives, onion chives, parsley, lemon balm, tarragon, cilantro, rosemary, and thyme.
What are y'all planning to grow this year? tb

OHHH! I'm so excited ... it's that time of year again - GARDEN PLANNING.
Last Saturday after the family and I decided which seeds to order, hubby and I walked out where we plan to place our vegetable garden and chicken coop. I am very excited about the prospect of planting corn this year - this is the 1st year since I was a girl that I've lived in a place that had enough space to grow it.
Sometime next week I plan to map out the garden plantings.
I am a little nervous about when to plant. If we were still down in S.E. Texas I'd already have a few things in the ground. However, up here in eastern Montana, I hear that most folks don't plant until late May - down home, we are eating from the garden by May.
Any other ladies have plans for a vegetable garden this year?

An aquaintence from church recently loaned our family a few Mother Earth publications and I am so excited to share the on-line garden planning tool I recently discovered via this magazine. So far I am LOVING this thing! I am currently using the 30 day free trial but am seriously considering the $25 annual membership. If interested in checking it out, here's the link: www.motherearthnews.com/garden-planner/vegetable-garden-planner.aspxtb

Well, the garden planning is finished. Using the Mother Earth Garden planner mentioned in my previous post, has been wonderful. Coupled with my Vegetable Gardener's Bible I've been able to easily map out exactly where everything will be planted for the most efficient use of our space and companion planting. This year we plan to grow the following:
tomatoes peas cucumbers bell peppers jalapenos green beans zucchini yellow squash red cabbage lettuce corn carrots beets yellow & red onions green onions broccoli cauliflower turnips radishes spinach watermelon pumpkins cantaloupe & honey dew melons strawberries potatoes Swiss chard cilantro parsley oregano basil onion chives rosemary tarragon basil dill
Have y'all decided what plant in your family's garden this year? tb
