Isa 39:6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
Isa 39:7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
Isa 39:8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
In my morning devotions I came acrost this passage. I thought it was so sad that this King was not willing to change anything. He was willing to let sons that he had not even had yet become eunuchs. He had been in a bad spot before and had begged and pleaded with God to change His mind and the Lord heard him. But, he was not willing to change for his children’s sake. Are we so stuck on ourselves that we are not willing to change for our children? Have we no vision of what we want our children to become.
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. We need to guide our children in the manner in which God wants us to. Some times that will make us different than those around us. But if we have been saved the Lord has called us to live a life set apart from the world. We are IN the world but, that does not mean that we have to be OF the world.
There will be some battles that we as mothers are going to face. The first one is with ourselves. I know that a lot of the time I do not want to change. I am content with what I am but I should not be. I should always be striving to be more like my Lord. I heard a preacher say once that there should be no culture shock for us when we get to heaven. Oh, I strive to be always learning, always growing closer to my Lord.
We are also going to face battles with our children. Every child that is born is born with a sin nature. If you have ever heard an infant cry you would know that. He is angry and if he had the ability he would do harm to those who are not attending his every whim. I have seen three year olds attack people who are three times their size, why because they have a sin nature.
The Bible tells us that Pro 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. It is tied up in their hearts and only the rod will drive it from them. I know that I struggle at times with spanking. I think I know a better way than the Lord. I try other methods but do we really see any good out of the methods of the world. I knew a child that found out if you were naughty and had to be put in a time out right before it was time to clean up the toys you did not have to clean. Is that really what we want for our children. Oh the joy a happy contented child brings. What peace there is in a home where all are focused on the Lord.
Dear Sisters let us fight the battles so there will be peace in our children’s time. May they learn how to focus on the Lord and His word. He tells us that Psalms 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Let us fight a battle for our children.
