Eternal Builders
A builder builded a temple; He wrought it with grace and skill. Pillars and doors and arches, All fashioned to work his will.
Men said, as they saw its beauty, "It shall never know decay; Great is thy skill O builder! Thy fame shall endure for aye."
A father builded a temple With loving and infinite care, Planning each arch with patience, Laying each stone with prayer
None praised his unceasing efforts, None knew of his wonderous plan, For the temple the father builded Was unseen by the eyes of man.
Gone is the builder's temple Crumbled into the dust; Low lies each stately piller Food for consuming rust
But the temple the father builded Will last while the ages roll For that beauriful unseen temple Was a child's immortal soul.

Oh! You should have warned me i'd need a kleenex! Lovely. Sorry!! I loved this and my dear grandmother in law loved it also. I could not find a copy until this thanksgiving, a friend let us borrow a book and it was there. Grandmother in law had passed away in June. I cried also when I read the poem again. Missed my granny and I am still in the weepy stage after having the baby
