I finally had my sewing machine repaired. But, I was really shocked by the bill, $77 This included a cleaning and service though. I just keep thinking I am going to have to do alot of sewing to justify that amount. I am not a great seamstress, but there has been some mending that is piling up. I also want to make some more cloth napkins. Robin

I admire anyone who can use one of those things! I do all my sewing by hand. I have never gotten the hang of a sewing machine. I guess I'm just not mechanically inclined. My father-in-law has tried to show me many times. He is the one who repairs all of our machines, so he repaired one I bought at a yard sale and tried his best to show me but I just could not do it! My mind cannot comprehend all the steps although everyone tells me it is simple. So I buy clothes and only sew small projects, like curtains and simple quilts.

Actually, I really enjoy hemming by hand. Years ago, I made a whole set of cloth napkins which I hemmed by hand. They were small enough to take along and work on.

;D I am so glad you have your sewing machine back. I do not know what I would do without mine. I have a serger also but am scared of it. It runs so fast. My Daughter is starting to sew by hand. She is only four but she is learning quickly. Happy sewing.
