Good morning,
I am always on the lookout for new uses for old things. I love to make things, but don't always have the funds for crafting materials. Each time I see a need, I look for an alternative way to satisfy it.
This weekend, I was thumbing through some older craftng magazines that were gifted to me, and came across a way to use up some empty egg cartons. Using just the part that holds eggs (eight of them), a hole punch, and some yarn, I made a waste basket for my laundry room! It is not a sturdy basket. It is just right for the lint from the dryer filter and the papers found in pockets.
Here is what I did: Punch a hole on the outside of each compartment (right along the line..you will see it) and two in each compartment on one end. Use small bits of yarn to tie the cartons together in bows. When all are tied togeter, you will have an octagon-shaped tube. Now, the orginal directions called for a paper plate to be used for the bottom. I do not keep paper plates, so instead, I weaved a bottom from more yarn. In and out of those holes you made on the end of the cartons until it is woven enough to hold up a grocery bag.
Voila! A waste paper bin from egg cartons! A need is filled, and less waste in the landfill!
Blessings, Michelle

I had a few minutes to myself yesterday and decided to do something I enjoy:crochet. I had alot of skeins of yarn my M-I-L gave me over the winter. And with all the excitement of spring and planting flowers, I gathered 4 skeins of different colors but in the same color scheme, i crocheted a long, thick chain, about 10-12 feet. Then fold in half and half again. Knot the bottom and knot the top so that there is a loop about 2 inches. Voila! a crochet plant hanger! I made about 3 of these in an hour time. Can't wait to hang on the porch with hanging strawberries or flowers. Hope someone can use this idea!

I will have to try these. I love projects that are finished quickly. I do not have room for a garden but would still love to grow something this year.
