I am totally broke and have 2 nephews I needed a Christmas gift for. I found a link to turn old denim jeans into laundry bags and then I am using my smaller scraps like from cut off jeans to make them toy bags to put their match box cars in. A friend gave me some silky left over scraps from some of her projects and I am looking to make them into smaller bags to give to their Mom. I thought I would put a zipper in the tops of a couple and maybe even use more denim scraps to make pencil bags for the boys for school. Here are the links I have found... www.allfreecrafts.com/sewing/recycle-denim.shtmlwww.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=835www.folkartlife.com/articles/denimbag.shtmland www.hgtv.com/hgtv/ah_moneysaving_recycle/article/0,1801,HGTV_3131_1398733,00.html Ordinarily with such a tight budget I might be tempted to pass on sending gifts but these poor kids have had a rough year. Their Dad jumped off a bridge this past summer and he is hospitalized for medical injuries and psychiatric problems. Their Mom is a Christain lady who is really trying to hold things together. They could really use lots of prayers. Hubby and I are going to try to make sure the kids have Christmas gifts this year! Please keep them on your prayers too!

Oh My! I certainly will keep them in prayer. For you and your husband I offer the following scripture,
"I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread." Psalms 132:15 tb

I thought I was the only scrap saver of jean legs! I've made wreaths as gifts w/them....you can use any fabric...I've even used bandanas when Hobby Lobby has the fancy ones on sale...take a wire coat hanger & make form into a circle..I usually cut the hook part off after I've secured the two ends together. Then cut the fabric into strips about an inch wide & 6 to 7" long...be careful not to cut them too short! Then you tie them onto the hanger using a slip knot. Be careful to get them all facing the same way...& pull them tight! I also make heart shaped ones for Valentine day decorations at the nursing home where my mom is. Make them as full as you can...they're fun for kids to do too....! This year the jean purses for girls are in fashion so I bought a couple of really short denim mini skirts at Goodwill for 99 cents & sewing up the bottoms & adding ribbon & jean waist band (left over scrap) for the handle...!The family is definitely in my prayers !

I am going to be able to sew the some pjs this year too! Hubby took a bunch of overtime shifts the week of Thanksgiving and worked 72 hours that week. We are going to the fabric store tomorrow. the laundry bags are done. I am making my SIL a purse too! As an update my BIL had his leg aputated yesterday...pleae keep this family in prayers. We are trying to get her to move close to us so we can help and Hubby can be an influence on those boys. Boys learn to be men from being with a man and they are so young....
