when I sew casings in the sleeves of our nightgowns I cut a strip of fabric off the bolt where the fabric is removed from the loom. I use it instead of buying bias tape or seam binding to make the tunnel to run the elastic thru. It may only save pennies but these days I really need those pennies.

I am not that versed in sewing (I am teaching myself as I don't know anyone who sews) so learning is slow but I'm at least learning. This sounds like a great money saver. I agree...all those pennies do add up..so don't discount the small blessings.

Had to chuckle...I always pieced the scraps together to make the bias tape...that way I felt like I'd made the best I could get & it matched....didn't think of saving pennies...was better than a trip to the fabric with two little ones....!
