Does anybody know where I could find patterns for undergarments? (I am looking for my whole family) These are necessary but quite often expensive. They don't look like much - should'nt take much... just don't know. Joanna

Are you looking for boy's as well as girl's? And are we talking about bras, slips, and underwear? Tee shirts? Kwik Sew has a few options that seem to fit well. I've never attempted to sew a bra but, I suppose you could try. I grew up in homemade underwear and now I have the pattern that my mom always used. And it really is not difficult at all. And I can guarantee that they cover more skin that a store bought pair!:-)

I don't know if this helps, but when I have a pair of slacks that fit well, but are worn out, I carefully take them apart and use them for a pattern. Maybe you could try this with old underwear? And I know those boxer length boys knit shorts are popular. I think they're made of a stretchy t-shirt type material? I would think you could use a slacks pattern for that too, just make it shorter!
As far as bras go, I would think you could make a sports bra type that hooks in the front, using as stretchy a material as you could find, maybe doubled up t-shirt knit. The straps would be made to order, depending on you, and the hooks are sold with several adjustable rows anyway.
I'm a big fan of made to order - or "making it up as I go" ! Good luck!

Samsgram, thanks for the link, maybe now I can make an undergarment that is comfortable and one I don't want to always take off. LOL
When we make slips or slip shorts, we always use sheets, believe it or not. We (my sister and I) go to all the second hand stores in our area and buy up all the pretty printed or even white sheets that they have. They are easy to sew, they wear nicely, and easy to take care of. I have been know to sport a jumper, shirt, and slip made out of sheets on more that one occasion.
I hope this helps.

Cindylu, it's SO good to see you back online!!! How did the move go? I am ready to order another quilt! (FYI, ladies, this lady makes quilts for a very reasonable amount, FAST, and beautiful!) I have two rag lap quilts, or rather I HAD to rag lap quilts, because those adorable snuggly things are in the hands of a couple of grandchildren now! So it's time for another - three more grandkids to go, and maybe then one for me? ? ha ha ha!

Samsgram,
Thanks for such a complement. I am sad to report that we haven't moved yet. The day before we were to leave our youngest dd, (who had JRA and MAS) got sick and a snow storm blew in and dumped tons of snow on us. It snowed for days and now we can't get the trailer we were going to take out because we live in the mountains and on a very bad road that is only accessible with 4 wheel drive vehicles if the weather is bad.
My sister and I would love to make you another quilt but as for now, all our supplies are packed and in the storage room waiting to be placed in a moving van when we are ready to leave here. Here at the house, we are bare bones on what we have unpacked, waiting on the weather to clear up enough so we can go.
Our little girl is doing much better. She is on an immune suppressant drug to help with her JRA and MAS, to calm her immune system down and not fight against its self, so that is why she got so sick. Good news, the drug is working. LOL It was just a reminder to us that she still has some problems but the Lord is still taking care of her and us.
Peace and God Bless,
Lucinda
