We homeschool year-round here. There is too much "review" time when we take a long break -- sometimes we have too much review just taking a weekend break! We use Christian Light for our main schooling, but we do tend to bunny trail off with science and history. Some days I wonder if all our bunny trails aren't really more time consuming, but it keeps their interest if they can pick a topic for study, and those 2 subjects are ones I'm willing to fudge a bit on, especially now with the younger levels. As to levels, we change grades per subject as the need arises, too. With a year-round schedule there isn't really a start and stop date for us.

Dear Sisters,
We home educate all year. I consider that every day has some life learning in it. But we do more formal work four days a week from September through May. Then in the summertime we just utilize two days per week.
The first year we home educated, I used a typical schedule. I did not care for it. Our son forgot much of his phonics. I worked too hard with him for it to just be forgotten! He also became bored in the summer. In the winter, five days per week was too hard on me. I needed more time for running errands, appointments, and work around the house during the winter. So this schedule has been a blessing to us.
In Jesus' love, Debbie

I am so glad I am not the only one that does school all year round. We also do 4 days a week during the regular school times. Ith DH haveing Mond. off it makes sence to let the children have the day off to spend time with papa.

We also homeschool year around. Like many have said it is just to much work to review and well that is wasted time.. We also do take breaks when we need to as a family.. Like many we feel that learning is something that is done 365 days a year.. Not something that is just done one or five days a week..:-) god bless glenda
