We are going to be doing some school on the computer this year and I am making it a reward for finishing all of your other work. I know that my oldest is going to like this.

A few years ago I homeschooled my niece. I found a reading program on the internet. She loved it. And she learned to read pretty fast. It is called Headsprout. If anyone wants to check it out... www.headsprout.com I plan on using it for Joshua when he gets ready. But, he has a ways to go before he is ready for that. We are just learing how to color. He still eats the crayons. lol

My newest reader has been using Reader Rabbit and really enjoys it. I also like it because it was given to us. You can not beat free.

We actually bought math for the computer this year...we school using Christian Light, and they are almost word-for-word duplicates of Alpha Omega, so for a break from book work, we bought their Switched-on-Schoolhouse math for the 6th and 5th graders here. They have enjoyed it, but neither dd actually like the computer much (thank you Lord for that!!!)

We are mostly homeschooling with no purchased curriculum. We look up our states content standards then google them and get tons of ideas and worksheets, interactive websites, etc. PBS has a great teachers series of emails where the kids can watch a show, example cyberchase, then do all kinds of awesome math activities and then there on even links to other sites from there. My children love to homeschool this way. They are learning computer skills as well as what they need to know. We also broke away from the "structured" school day. We learn while we play and I see more results then when we had to sit at our desks for 1/2 a day looking at text books. The library is our second most useful tool. My kids have to get at least one in each category: science, history or social studies, biography, chapter book, and for the little ones they get to get the easy books for me to read to them. We all look forward to spending at least an hour in the library looking for our special books for the week.
Cub/Boy Scout & Girl Scouts are also really excellent tools for the homeschool families. We often use the achievements as our science or social studies.
Happy Homeschooling Mama

We have used starfall.com and recently I have found this site for Math www.rainforestmaths.com/ , my children really enjoy doing the math problems online, and it has each level separated so that you can pick each child's level.
