My husband and I are seriously thinking about using the McGuffey's Reader series (I found them for $89.99 at CBD, K-12 grades!), but I am wondering how anyone else has faired with them, if anyone here has used them at all. It says they come with a teachers guide. Any experience? It is the same price for all grades for the Ray's Arithmetic too. It goes all through calculus even (I'll need to be a student as well!) Has anyone tried this? If so, how are/did you like it?
Thank you in advance for any thoughts shared!

Hi pursuer,
Although we haven't personally used the McGuffey's Readers, I've heard positive remarks from ther home school mom's about them.
We are not familiar with Ray's Arithmatic.

We love the McGuffey's readers, but we don't own the set. There is a website called An Old Fashioned Education where you can down load the individual readers, save them in your computer, and print them off as you need them. Here is the link where you can find the whole set to print out. oldfashionededucation.com/reading.htmIf you page down to the bottom of the page you can find the different reader levels. We also use the McGuffey's Eclectic Spelling Book. This has worked very well for us. My little girl loves the daily lessons and loves the material content. I find that they are more challenging for her and doesn't bore her like the more modern reading textbooks. This website is great and is a never ending source for home schooling. I hope this helps you. Peace and God Bless, Luci

Oh my stars! I TOTALLY forgot about that website! I am so glad you mentioned it - there are so many wonderful resources on there, too. I averaged out the cost per year for the sets, and they both come to $7.50 per yer - not at all a bad price. And I really don't think I can print them at home for cheaper each year. However, I will do the figuring tonight, and I may be able to, in which case, I will definitely be using that website for McGuffey's! I also see many other awesome things there - thank you so much, Luci!
