Genesis 3
18. And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22. And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
The dilemma that constantly surrounds womens rights ( which no one questions anymore) and the questions of equality between the sexes are all answered in these very simple to understand scriptures...In verse 18 God said that it wasn't good for the man to be alone, He said he was going to "make him and help meet for him." Where is there any room to question, the woman was made for the man, not the man for the woman, it doesn't evey go to equality, they weren't made for one another as people so often like to put it, God made it simple to understand. A woman is a gift from God to an man. That simple statement will change the way you feel about yourself ladies, if you get the concept that for that man you live with and love and fuss with, and try to rule over, you are his gift. In 1 Corinthians 7:7 Paul is speaking of wives when he said, "For I would that all men were even as I myself, But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that." You are a gift to your husband, be a possession that brings joy and fulfillment to him, not "rottenness to his bones."
I love verses 19 and 20. God made all of the animals and birds, even "man's best friend" and still there wasn't an help meet found for him. I love these verses also because we see that man is full capable of performing a great task with out direction from a woman, there were alot of animals but Adam performed him job well, on his on! Ladies (Me too), don't tell your husbands what to do, realize that God made a man to lead and all that you and I do when we don't have faith in this is hurt there self-esteem and self-worth and cause them to depend on us. To me a weak man that looks to a woman for his direction is a very unattractive sight.
In verses 21 and 22 we get to the good stuff! People say all of the time, we are made from dust, I don't read any where where God used dust, dirt, or ground to make the woman, He took a rib from the man and made the woman. Eve was made of her husband, I can't help but believe, of course with no scientific proof, that I have a rib in common with my husband. Now woman was made FOR man, God made the woman the way that the man was going to like her, that's why we look, act and feel so different. Take a deep breath and just imagine what Adam must have felt when he woke up and laid his eyes on Eve for the first time. She was made by God to please him, Whew! If he'd had socks on she would surely have knocked them off!
Adam sums it up in verse 23 when he says that she if of my bone and of my flesh and she was taken out of me, I think that he must have been awe struck and such a wonderful gift from the Lord God. Now how does my husband feel when he looks at and thinks of me? My prayer is that I am and will continue to be a good gift to my husband. I belong to him so is leaves no question for my obedience issues. I love the Bible, it's just plain and simple. I love God more, what a marvelous creation and what a marvelous Creator! Do It His Way! Blessings.
