Okay, I've got to get another's opinion on this manner. It has been on my heart for a while now about all the various versions of the Bible out there. I, personally, have always used the KJV because I like it and will not likely ever switch. However, I know some out there, including in my church, will use another version and say it's just as good. In the last month or so several issues have come up where I have needed to "prove my stand" on using the KJV. Now, the church is about to buy another version for the children's department and this bothers me. I can understand the need for a consistant version throughout the department but not this one they are about to purchase. These children will be molded for life under this other version. Is it one we should encourage? My children attend Awanas on Wed. nights and it uses the KJV solely. Now, when they learn verses at church, there is a wording change. Is this not confusing to a young mind? I need to have more explanation as to why to use the KJV over any other and thus far my arguments are poor at best based on my personal preference and a book I read about Fredrick Douglas. (How these come together is another rabbit chase.) Can anyone please offer advice and/or guidelines?
