Hi Ladies,
For many years, I've struggled with receiving. For as long as I can remember, it has always been very difficult for me to receive things from anyone. I struggle with receiving help in times of trouble, encouragement, gifts, spiritual blessings, etc. You name it, I've had trouble receiving it.
For a long time I assumed the character flaw of pride was the driving force behind my difficulty in receiving. I spent many years working on humility. However, the Lord has revealed to me that pride was not the driving force behind my receiving difficulties - it was lack of BELIEF.
That was a very big pill for me to swallow. After-all, I LOVE the Lord. He is my everything and without Him I am nothing. I worship Him, I praise Him, I strive to obey Him, I follow Him in the midst of adversity. How could belief be a problem?
Well, it all goes back to that old sack of junk I've been trying to get rid of since I accepted Jesus as my savior. You all know what I'm talking about. Many of you have your own sacks of junk too. Well, I came to realize that it was time to get rid of the unbelief I'd been carrying around for so many years. Of course, I had to address the root cause of the unbelief by repenting and forgiving those who lied, deceived, took advantage of, etc. Then, I had to work on building and strengthening my belief.
I know the Word if God is the best tool anyone can use to improve any area of one's life. The following scriptures have worked wonderfully in building up my belief and thus, allowing me to receive the blessings of the Lord more freely.
... he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. Isaiah 30:19
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Isaiah 65:24
Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am ... Isaiah 58:9
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. Jeremiah 29:12
Call unto me, and I will answer the, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee ... Job 22:27
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Psalms 50:15
He shall call upon me and I shall answer him ... Psalms 91:15
O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Psalms 65:2
The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. Psalms 34:17
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psalms 55:17
The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. Psalms 145:18,19
The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call upon my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God. Zechariah 13:9
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find: knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth: and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7,8
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 21:22
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou shut thy door, pray to the Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:6
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:11
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Matthew 6:8
... Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23, 24

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. I John 3:22
