Sisters, I bought some eggs from a family, and they are quite new at raising chickens. They want to know why their eggs have such thin shells?? Thanks for your help!! Jan

Sounds like their chickens need to be fed oyster shells. It also works to crush up the egg shells and throw them to the chickens to eat, instead of throwing the shells in the trash. But that can cause the chickens to start eating the eggs they lay before you can gather them. So oyster shells are better. (I think it was oyster shells we had to feed to ours? I'll try to remember to call Mom tomorrow and make sure.)

Yep...dh confirmed that they need to feed their chicken oyster shells. They should be able to find some at anyplace that sells poultry feed, etc. HTH.
