Hi All,
Thanks for adding me to your website. My name is Anita Mullins. I live in Missouri. I am 47 years old. In 2007, I got married for the first, became a step-mom to 2 wonderful young ladies (ages 16 & 24), as well as a Grandma to 4 great kids (since then have added another one). Also on that one day, I became a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law. I also moved out to the country to where my husband's whole family lives...on about 80 acres of land. His two parents and his two brothers and their family all live on the same property. None of us can see one house to the next but within walking distance. I couldn't have asked for a better family to marry into. I love all my in-laws, both my daughters and grandchildren and of course, my husband. They are all God-Fearing Christians and they have accepted me with open arms. I have lived in the city all my life and getting use to living in the country has been an easier adjustment than what I thought. Of course, like anything else, some things I'd rather change but all-in-all, I love my new title as wife, homemaker, mom, Grandma Nee Nee and daughter-in-law.
I love to scrapbook, collect recipes, and do genealogy research. I'm trying to learn to do more "home" cooking and stay away from boxed goods and foods. Times have been really tight for us so I'm trying to do lots of "frugal", "budget-saving", and cost-cutting" research for tips on how to save money in our household. I've taught myself, with some help from my mother-in-law, how to make my own pie crusts for the occasional pie and I can even make my own pot pies (which my family loves). My family (the teenage daughter lives with us) had always loved store bought frozen pot pies and the frozen salsbury steaks and frozen burritos. I have since started making these from scratch and now they say I can't buy the frozen anymore.
I've been working on keeping certain stables in my pantry and now it's really fun to go through alot of the recipes and actually have most, if not all, of the ingredients on hand. This had to be a slow work in progress because of the low budget I had to go with but it's getting there.
I would love any new tips, recipes or advice anyone may have on any of this. I'm still learning and growing on how to be a good homemaker, wife and mom to our teenager.
Again, thanks for adding me.
Anita
