Hello Ladies,
I am requesting prayer in any area that I don't normally get involved with, but God has really put this upon my heart.
The WA State Legislature changed of the existing laws allowing "domestic partners" the same rights as married couples which was suppose to go into effect 7/26/09. God made sure the watchdogs knew about it and put them to work on it right away, and so far it has been stopped. It is in process to be put onto the November ballot. Please pray requesting God to make sure that marriage prevails and the opponents of traditional marriage stop threatening violence and using intimidation.
The threats have gotten so bad that the courts have stepped in to at least temporarily seal the names and addresses on the petitions.

Yes, Mountain Girl, this is an area where all Christians need to focus prayer on. Not only is Washington state in a legislative fight over traditional marriage, but there is also California and a couple other states, as well. I also read a news story on yahoo news the other day that mentioned the Obama administration is planning later this year to begin the wheels in motion to alter traditional marriage rules on a FEDERAL level and use language that will SUPERSEDE state rights, laws and mandates.
The article mentioned that the Obama administration has been working fast and furious on "hot" issues, such as, "cap & trade", HUGE federal budgets and control that will ultimately (in upcoming years) result in long term tax increases on EVERYONE - not just the so called wealthy- & limit state's rights even more, health care, and the upcoming plans for legal recognition of gay marriages, because the democrats are taking the civilian protests regarding these issues very seriously. According to the article, the public outcry over excessive spending (the passed stimulus bills and the upcoming cap & trade bill) and now the heated health care debate has democrats sincerely believing that a considerable number of seats in the senate and house will be lost to conservatives during the 2010 mid-term elections, resulting a stalemate - meaning nothing will get passed because no one will be willing to offer concessions in the negotiation process. Apparently the language used in these bills our current administration is trying to pass will result in extreme difficulty for future administrations to overturn. The article IMPLIED that not even the constitutional rights through the Supreme Court will be able to overturn the type of language they are writing into these bills.
You know, I've often found my self wondering why all the hurry and rush with these issues? I'm a firm believer in taking one's time and thoroughly examining ALL the pros and cons of a situation, especially when it comes to local, state and federal legislation. The lives of too many people are at stake for government REPRESENTATIVES to make serious errors. (Yes, I said representatives - too many folks in our nation have been falsely lead to believe that America has government leaders. We need to remember our nation is a democratic republic - meaning we have representatives working for the citizens. Our nation was NEVER designed to have leaders who lead the citizens of America. Our nation and constitution was deigned to keep the decision making power in the hands of the citizens.) This article put the rush and hurry we currently see in Washington into perspective. Apparently, the liberals in Washington D.C., despite the public insults directed toward Conservatives and the outright statements that these objectors are not representative of mainstream America, sincerely fear their time is limited.
I hope all the Christian ladies on this forum will sincerely pray for our nation and contact thier congressmen and senators regarding the direction of our nation. I also personally think we need to ernestly pray for a national revival. We all know that mankind's sincere turning toward God is the only thing that will result in long-term improvments.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. Referendum Measure 71 will make it to the November ballot in Washington State.
Yes tbhas6,
You are absolutely correct. We all need to pray on this issue. Never underestimate the power of prayer.
