I'm new to gardening and so I'm trying various easy tthings and I understand mint was easy to grow. I think I want to try to grow some apple mint and/or chocolate mint. I'm probably going to go to the nursery this weekend and hopefully they will have some. I love drinking mint tea and it will be nice to have my own tea growing.

Thank you Jalynn. I got some peppermint plants at Orchard Supply Hardware yesterday. They didn't have any apple or chocolate mint plants. I will check out other nurseries to see if they have any.

mint is a wonderful way to start gardening..but I would put them in containers as they can become VERY invasive in a a garden plot..I usually use some old window boxes that I don't use for flowers anymore for any kind of plant that will "take over" a garden area. Right now I'm growing purslane, which also grows wild, wonderful in salads, but another very invasive plant, so it's in a container as well. YOU will love the fresh taste of mint when you make a tea out of the fresh leaves

Karoline, thanks for the tip about growing mint in containters ... I have some mint seeds that I'd planned on planting in my garden, but will now put them in a nice large potting contianer. tb
