Okay here goes. When I first discussed this verse with a friend she said that it meant she brought foreign food. ??? ::) I ma not so sure. Although I will say that the American diet is one of the unhealthiest and it would not hurt us to try food from other countries for health reasons. We love Chinese here and me and the children love Indian and Mediterranean cooking. I really believe that this verse is telling us to get the best deals on our food as we can. This can be a problem for some of us as we live a ways from a grocery store. I try to shop twice a month because we are quite a ways from any where that has great deals. We also need to be aware of how much gas we use. It may not be that great of deal if you use up to much gas to go some where far away to get to a sale. One other thing that I thought I would mention. It is not a good idea to always eat processed food because of how cheap they are. I can feed my family of 7 for under 2 dollars if I feed them homemade corn dogs but that is hot dogs :P and it is deep fried. Is it that much of a savings if you have health problems in the long run. I am still having to go to a Dr. for all of the problems that my gall bladder gave me and it was taken out in May. So let us remember what we are putting into our bodies. I have heard it said that you need to eat food as close to the way God prepared it to get the benefits out of it. Check into growing your own, farmers market or Co-ops. Those are all great options. A word of caution on co-ops. Once again check to make sure you are getting a savings. Sometimes you can get the same food for as cheap at a local grocery store.
One thing I have found about this chapter on the Bible is how practical God is. He certainly cares about every aspect of our lives. Let us live to today so as to be ready to meet Him at His coming.
