Dear Ladies,
I usually post prayer updates regarding a dear widow friend, however, today I post a prayer request for my family.
I am heart broken, but we must begin our search for a new church home.
Several months ago our church board passed a by-law that is out of line with the Bible. I prayed about what to do and at that time I felt led to stand and continue to minister the Biblical truth to those whom I may influence. My husband was disgruntled over the decision but instructed the children and I to stay put.
Well, the enemy has attacked again. This time the attack comes in the form of another church member making false accusations against our family. They went so far as to file a false police report. Fortunately, we were able to PROVE to the police it was false and we will not face any charges. Of course during the same time period, the other church member also brought it to our church leadership, again, we have PROVEN our innocence. Since filing a false police report is a crime, our church leadership somehow convinced the police not to pursue charges against this other family.
What is so terrible is that this other church member has done this very same thing to other families in our church in the past on SEVERAL occasions! Our church leadership refuses to hold this person accountable for bearing a false witness against their brothers and sisters in Christ.
The children and I have attended our church for more than 13 years. I and the older children have served in ministry for more than 6 years. Although my husband is a very moral person with very high integrity, he has never asked the Lord into his heart. This situation has made him furious! He insists that we immediately begin looking for another church. (I know it may be hard to understand - although he is not saved, he insists that I and children serve the Lord.) I understand his anger and I am overwhelmingly disappointed in how our church leadership has handled this, especially since it is not the first time this has happened.
Despite all this, I am trying my best to take it with a positive attitude.
1. The church board passed a by-law contrary to the Bible - it is better for my children to grow up under the leadership of a firm Biblical foundation.
2. On the weeks my husband is home, he has agreed to attend new churches with us to assist in looking for a new church home.
3. It is my prayer that he will actually like another church and have a desire to attend with us when he can, instead of just attending on holidays. (although he liked many people in our previous church, he never liked the senior pastor).
Ladies, please join us in prayer as we search for where the Lord would have us. Also, please remember to pray that this other family will grow spiritually and repent for the lies they've spread regarding other brothers and sisters.
Thank you all so much ... tb
